Grammar Tip

Personal pronouns can be subjective case (I, you, she, he, we, they) or objective case (me, you, her, him, us, them), depending on where they land with a verb. Before the verb? Subjects are doing the doing. You and I are talking. They are listening.

After the verb, grammatical objects are involved. You called us. She texted him. They invited her and me.

It doesn't matter how many other people you add to the sentence. Subjective case before the verb; objective case after the verb.

Of Course Your Knees Hurt

In late 2019 I got an official (read: expensive) X-ray and diagnosis of something-something-arthritis in my left knee, but it doesn’t hurt anymore. No more achy breaky joints for me, thanks an awful lot to what I learned in Laura’s book and by turning on my ILOC full throttle. How’s your internal locus of control?

Life Tip

Mercury is in retrograde, as it is wont to do three or four times a year. It sounds cute to blame things on this astronomical phenomenon, though, doesn’t it?

Or we could be more circumspect about the off-kilter moments. Poopiness happens, y’all. It just does.

It will fade a little or go away completely or stay a while. We can clean it up and go about our day. Or stay inside and wait it out. Hunker down until it passes. Rant and rave. Or do something enjoyable in the middle of the poopiness storm, even. Plenty of options.
